Authorised Customs Locations at Company Premises

Make customs operations at your company faster and more efficient

Using an Authorised Location for customs clearance allows the operator authorised by the competent customs administration to complete customs formalities directly at its own premises, or at other designated and authorised places, when shipping and/or receiving goods.

In this case, the goods:

  • do NOT have to physically pass through the customs office
  • are declared by a customs broker while they are at the plant
  • can be declared before shipment
  • undergo any checks (document check or physical inspection) without being moved
  • once the control outcome is received, the customs declaration is sent by the broker via email
  • are subject to significantly fewer customs checks
  • face very limited critical issues (timing, partial or full unloading, etc.)

Benefits of an Authorised Location

  • Shorter clearance times
  • No need to follow the timing required to transport goods to the customs office
  • Shorter delays when checks take place
  • Lower transport costs
  • Fewer checks: an Authorised Location directly leads to fewer controls by customs officers
  • Lower risks related to loading and unloading goods for transport to customs

It also avoids further risks such as:

  • Failing to obtain customs documentation because of the carrier, within the 90 days required to issue the invoice under art. 8(1)(b) of Italian Presidential Decree 633/72
  • Clearance at a non-Italian customs office, with difficulties in obtaining the export declaration and its MRN code
