What is approved exporter status?
It is an authorisation issued by the Italian Customs Agency that allows a company to declare the preferential origin of its goods directly on the sales invoice, with no value limit.
Origin declarations made by an Approved Exporter on the invoice replace the EUR.1 certificate for shipments to countries that have agreements with the European Union. This allows the customer in the country of destination to pay no duties or reduced duties. It is a facilitation provided for by the origin protocols of the EU’s free trade agreements and by the Regional Convention on pan-Euro-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin (PEM Convention). For agreements based on the REX system (for example those with Canada, Japan, Vietnam and the United Kingdom), origin declarations instead require registration as a Registered Exporter.
